Saustila is one of Finland’s oldest landed estates, with the earliest references in written records dating back as far as the 15th century. The manor’s main building, completed in 1819, is believed to have been designed by architect Carl Ludvig Engel. The veranda, which was added to the manor at a later date, dates from the early 20th century.
During the spring and summer of 2020, Trähus restored the veranda according to its original design. Old photographs and drawings preserved at the manor were used as references during the planning process.
The renovation project brought together the versatile expertise of our timber framers and carpenters: the structure was built by our timber framers, while the railings and balusters were handcrafted at our workshop.
